A weighted water receptacle that attracts egg-laying mosquitoes, then breaks the breeding cycle with larvicide.

MosquitoCon® Product Overview

Spraying adult mosquitoes treats the symptom. MosquitoCon® goes after the source. It is a weighted, water-holding receptacle designed to look like the perfect place for a female mosquito to lay eggs, and when it is paired with an EPA-registered larvicide, the larvae are killed before they ever emerge as biting, disease-carrying adults. That lifecycle-based approach targets the container-breeding mosquitoes that matter most, led by Aedes aegypti, the yellow fever mosquito and vector for Zika, dengue, chikungunya, and yellow fever, along with Aedes albopictus and Culex species that carry West Nile.

Independent testing by Snell Scientific measured a 90 percent or greater Aedes aegypti entry rate. The receptacle holds 96 ounces of water, a heavy concrete block stabilizer brings it to about 11.6 pounds so it will not tip, and it locks with the VM Universal Key®. Place it in the shaded harborage areas where mosquitoes rest, and service it monthly through the season.

Where and How to Use

Attracts egg-laying female mosquitoes and when, paired with an EPA-registered larvicide, breaks the breeding cycle. Lifecycle-based environmentally responsible mosquito management.

Place in shaded areas of the property where mosquitoes harbor, such as under shrubs, in landscape beds, near trees, and in shaded yard corners. Add water to the fill line, with a 96 ounce capacity, then add an EPA-registered larvicide per its label. Female mosquitoes are drawn and lay eggs, and the larvicide kills the larvae before they can emerge as adults. Lock it with the VM Universal Key®. The heavy concrete block stabilizer, about 11.6 pounds total, prevents tipping over. Refresh water and replenish larvicide following the customer site mosquito management plan during mosquito season.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does MosquitoCon control mosquitoes?

MosquitoCon® attracts egg-laying female mosquitoes to its water reservoir, and when paired with an EPA-registered larvicide it kills the larvae before they can emerge as biting adults. This environmentally responsible lifecycle approach reduces the breeding population rather than only treating adults without impacting non-target insects like pollinators.

Which mosquitoes does MosquitoCon target?

It targets container-breeding mosquitoes, led by Aedes aegypti, the vector for Zika, dengue, chikungunya, and yellow fever, along with Aedes albopictus and Culex species that carry West Nile.

Does MosquitoCon come with larvicide?

No. The larvicide is EPA-registered and purchased separately, then added to the receptacle per its label. The station itself provides an attractive water reservoir for egg laying, the weighted concrete block for stability, and the locking lid for security.

Where should MosquitoCon be placed?

Place it in shaded harborage areas where adult mosquitoes rest, such as under shrubs, in landscape beds, near trees, and in shaded yard corners, then service it following the site specific service plan throughout the mosquito season.

Is MosquitoCon proven to attract mosquitoes?

Independent testing by Snell Scientific measured a 90 percent or greater Aedes aegypti entry rate, which reflects how effectively the receptacle draws egg-laying females in.
